How can you earn money with a blog?
There are several ways to monetise a blog, but all require work prior to this. It is very hard to start earning money with a blog from one day to another, if you have not first worked on creating quality content and focused on the right target public. Thus, you have to forget about a blog being a quick way to get rich.
But this doesn’t mean that it is impossible to have extra income with a blog, or even make a living from one. Almost all bloggers use one or more of these methods to earn money from their blog.
Advertisements are one of the first methods that bloggers think about to monetise their blog although, as you will see, it is not the only way. Advertisements can be managed through services such as Adsense or Exponser, or directly, by coming to agreements with advertisers.
The biggest problem with this method is that many advertising systems, like Adsense itself, pay per click on the ad. So it is necessary to have a very large audience to be able to reach significant amounts of money.
With affiliate programs, the blogger receives a commission every time one of their recommendations of a product ends in a sale. To know if the purchase has been carried out thanks to the blogger’s recommendation, the blogger can place links in their blog which are identified as the origin of the visit.
For this system to be successful, it is important that the blogger knows the product and has tested it, to be able to make great recommendations that impress their audience and creating a message that does not sound overly commercial. If a blogger continuously promotes new products, it is possible that their audience becomes bored.
With sponsored posts, the blogger receives a payment for posting an article about a certain brand product on their blog. It is almost always the blogger who writes the article, to stay online with the voice of the blog and to not lose identity within this.
Some blogs post sponsored articles saying that they are advertisements, whereas others do not.
Sale of products or services.
Blogs are great means of promotion for certain services or products. These can be digital products such as courses or ebooks, or physical objects such as arts and crafts.
Other bloggers take advantage of their knowledge and offer their services as consultants or freelance professionals.
It both cases, it is important to first have a loyal audience to be able to gain your first clients.
