How To Add Your Business to Google Maps

If you want your business to appear on Google Maps, you must create a profile for this on Google My Business.

Google My Business is the evolution of the old Google Places and is used to manage the presence of a business on several services of the search engine:

  • Google Maps
  • Google+
  • searches

Therefore, if you want to have better control over your presence on Google, it is essential for you to have an account with Google My Business.

Tutorial to add a company to Google Maps

  1. Enter the Google My Business page and click on ‘Appear on Google’ located at the top right of the page.  
  1. Then you must look for the business to check if it already exists within the Google Maps records. To do so, you must type in the name and address of your business in the map search engine.

A newly created company has very little chance of appearing on Google Maps, but a better known company may appear. So it is recommended to include all of the details possible in the search, like the full address or name variants.

  1. In the case that the company does not appear, you must add it yourself. Fill in all of the details on the form, checking that they are correct before submitting this.
  1. Once you have sent the information, you have to wait for these to be verified. Google will send you a letter to the address you gave on Google Maps with a PIN number.

Go back to the Google Maps page and type in your PIN. Keep in mind that you have 30 days to give the PIN or you will have to start the verification process all over again.

  1. When you have typed in your PIN, Google My Business will request that you create a Google+ page, where you can upload even more information about your business and share updates.
